Charles Kanavati

Following Medical School Graduation in 1983, Charles completed higher surgical ophthalmology training at St John Eye Hospital in Jerusalem and the UK in 1990. He then undertook a subspecialty training fellowship in Vitreous and Retina surgery at St Paul ‘s Eye Unit in Liverpool in 1993. 

He has a wealth of experience in clinical, healthcare management and leadership. In 2012, he returned to the UK as a Consultant Ophthalmologist, clinical governance and Audit lead at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport. He joined Practice Plus Group in 2023.

Biography

Following Medical School Graduation in 1983 and two years in General surgery, Charles completed higher surgical ophthalmology training at St John Eye Hospital in Jerusalem and the UK in 1990. He then undertook a subspecialty training fellowship in Vitreous and Retina surgery at St Paul ‘s Eye Unit in Liverpool in 1993.

While working at St John Eye Hospital, Jerusalem as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, he acquired a wealth of experience in clinical, healthcare management and leadership. He also worked as Director of Clinical Research and Medical Director until 2009. He then moved to Dubai to work as a Consultant Ophthalmologist, Clinical Lead and member of the Hospital Clinical Quality & Patient Safety (Including Morbidity & Mortality) Sub-Committee at Mediclinic Middle East City Hospital. In 2012, he returned to the UK as a Consultant Ophthalmologist, clinical governance and Audit lead at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport.

Charles joined Practice Plus Group as the National Medical Director for Ophthalmology in October 2023.
