Shoulder and elbow surgery is available at the following locations

Types of shoulder surgery

Discover the different types of surgery and treatments available for shoulder problems or shoulder injuries…

Frozen shoulder surgery (contracture release)

Frozen shoulder is also known as shoulder contracture and is a painful condition that affects shoulder movement. It is caused by the flexible tissue surrounding the shoulder joint becoming inflamed and thickened. Steroid injections may help but in severe cases, surgery may be necessary to remove the inflamed tissue.

Rotator cuff repair

The rotator cuff is a group of muscles closely wrapped around the shoulder that may be damaged through trauma or general wear and tear, causing pain and weakness. During keyhole surgery, the tendon attaching the muscle to the bone is reattached.

Shoulder arthroscopy

Arthroscopic surgeries are performed via keyhole surgery using an arthroscope attached to a video camera. This surgery is used to repair damage caused to the shoulder through trauma, wear and tear or damage to the ligaments and tendons.

Shoulder joint aspiration

If a patient is experiencing pain in a shoulder joint, a needle may be inserted into the joint to remove any fluid build up, and/or to diagnose the problem. This is a quick procedure.

Shoulder joint manipulation

This is performed under general anaesthetic and has been used for many years to treat frozen shoulder. The shoulder is moved through a range of motions to separate adhesions. Anti-inflammatory medication may also be injected into the shoulder.

Shoulder stabilisation surgery

This surgical procedure repairs damage done to shoulder cartilage if it has dislocated, helping to restabilise the shoulder joint.

Subacromial shoulder decompression surgery

This surgery on the shoulder prevents the bones and tendons in the shoulder rubbing against each other when the arm is raised, causing inflammation, pain and reduced movement. Inflamed tissue and bone spurs are removed to open up the joint again.

Total shoulder replacement surgery

A surgical procedure involving all or part of the shoulder joint being replaced by a prosthetic implant. This is generally performed to relieve arthritis pain or to fix severe joint damage.

Types of elbow surgery

Discover the types of surgery and treatments available for different elbow problems…

Golfers' elbow or tennis elbow surgery

A condition that causes pain around the outside of the elbow, usually caused by overuse of the muscles attached to your elbow and used to straighten your wrist. The treatment is to lengthen, release or repair the origin of the muscle of the hand where it attaches to the bone.

Cubital tunnel decompression

Treatment is the decompression of the ulnar nerve which is an effective minimally invasive treatment of Cubital Tunnel Syndrome.

Therapeutic injection for joint pain relief

Injections are a fast and easy method of easing joint pain and inflammation in the hip caused by arthritis/osteoarthritis. Injections include steroids, to ease inflammation, and Hyaluronate, which helps the joint to move more smoothly.

Arthritis in the elbow or shoulder joint

This is a term used by doctors to describe inflammation within a joint. Osteoarthritis is the most common form of joint disease. The surfaces within your joints become damaged so the joint doesn’t move as smoothly as it should. It causes joint pain and stiffness. Treatment ranges from conservative means, injections, fusion, excision or replacement. During knee replacement or hip replacement surgery, the surgeon replaces the damaged joint surfaces with artificial parts. It can reduce pain and improve your mobility.

Muscle debridement

Debridement is the surgical removal of damaged or infected tissue – skin or muscle – to help healthy tissue to heal.

Incredibly slick and super friendly

Despite the most huge system demand, strikes and winter pressures the NHS still carries on, so grateful to Practice Plus Group for looking after me yesterday. You were incredibly slick, super friendly and got the job done!

Process was very quick and well organised

The whole process was very quick and well organised from first contact to being discharged. The initial telephone contact allowed me to ask questions and be directed to the clinic which would best suit my needs. Everyone involved was very friendly and quickly put me at ease. I was always explained choices and not pressured into any response. My concerns were fully answered enabling me to feel confident to go ahead. I loved my consultants humour during the procedure keeping me involved and relaxed. My eyesight is amazing now with no need to wear glasses so I’m extremely satisfied.
